The men's basketball team and the ice hockey team each advanced to the SUNYAC Semifinals after posting wins last night in the first round of the tournament.
In basketball senior Jermaine Johnson hit a layup and sank a free throw to complete a 3-point play with nine seconds remaining in overtime to give No. 4 seeded Brockport a 68-67 win over visiting No. 5 Buffalo State. Brockport advances to play No. 1 Plattsburgh (19-7) on Friday Feb. 26th at 8pm.
In ice hockey sophomore James Cody scored twice and senior Justin Noble added the game-winning goal as No. 4 Brockport posted a 3-0 victory over No. 5 SUNY Potsdam. Brockport (14-11-1) advances to play No. 2 seed SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh due to the upset in Fredonia as SUNY Morrisville posted a 3-2 overtime win over Fredonia. Game time is 7pm on Saturday Feb 27th.

SUNYAC Playoffs
HELLO Brockport fans! It is SUNYAC playoff time and I hope you are ready to cheer your Golden Eagles on all the way to a conference championship.
The ice hockey team has earned the #4 seed in the tournament and will host #5 SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday February 23rd at 7pm. The two teams split on the season with Potsdam earning a 6-3 win early in the year. Last month, Brockport beat Potsdam on home ice by a score of 4-2.
The men's basketball team will be the #4 seed in the SUNYAC tournament and will host #5 Buffalo State on Feb. 23rd at 7pm. Brockport defeated Buffalo State 74-68 in late January and last week the Bengals won 85-80.
Tickets to either event are $2 for students and $5 for adults. The first 50 Brockport students at each event with college ID are FREE, courtesy of BSG.

Athletes of the Week
Here are the Elite Eagle athletes of the week for the week of Feb. 15-21.
Freshman Tyler Marlow (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) is the male athlete of the week after leading the Brockport Wrestling team to a second place finish at the Empire Wrestling Conference Championships.
Marlow won the individual championship at 125 pounds and was named the most outstanding wrestler. With the win, Marlow earns the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championships on March 5-6.
Marlow pinned a wrestler from RIT in the first round, then beat a wrestler from Cortland before pinning the number-one seed from Ithaca in the championship bout in 2:09.
Brockport finished second in the team competition by earning 126 points. SUNY Cortland won the championship with 141.5 points and No.4 Ithaca College finished third with 124.5 points.
Senior Carrie Rock (Chambersburg, PA/North Hagerstown) is the female athlete of the week after leading the gymnastics team to a third place finish at the Harriet Marrance Memorial Invitational.
Rock competed for the first time this season and looked like she never missed a beat as she took top honors on the balance beam with a 9.550. The score ties her second best performance on the apparatus.

Saves for a Cure
Senior Todd Sheridan (Edison, NJ) and The College at Brockport Ice Hockey team will be taking part in its annual Saves for a Cure game on Friday, February 19th when the Golden Eagles host SUNY Oswego at 7pm in the Tuttle North Ice Arena.Saves for a Cure is a charity organization that Sheridan, a cancer survivor, started three years ago to raise money to help children in the Rochester area better cope with the challenges of undergoing cancer treatments. Throughout the season, any save made by a Brockport goalie raises money pledged by local businesses.
The hockey team will join forces with the Athletic Department and the College Bookstore to help boost the fund raising activity for the charity.
The Athletic Department will be donating all of the ticket-sale revenue from the Saves for a Cure game to the charity and The College at Brockport Bookstore will be donating 20% of the sales from any emblematic merchandise purchased between February 15-20, 2010. In addition, there will be a 50/50 raffle during the game and general donation buckets. All proceeds will be enhancing hospital stays for children undergoing cancer treatments at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester.
This year, the Golden Eagles will be wearing black jerseys with a white Saves for a Cure logo on the front during the Oswego game. The jerseys are available for auction beginning February 15 and continuing through February 20, at noon. Winners will be announced February 20 and also be contacted via email to confirm delivery of the jersey.

Athletes of the Week
Here are the Elite Eagle athletes of the week for the week of Feb. 8-14.
Senior Nathan Butler is this week’s male athlete of the week after setting three school records at the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Butler broke the oldest school record remaining at Brockport (set in 1977) with an opening 100-yard backstroke leg of 54.16 second in the 400-yard medley relay. He improved the record the next day in the backstroke event with a time of 53.94 seconds, earning ninth place.
Butler was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay that captured third-place overall with a school-record time of 7:09.80. The time was more than 21 seconds better than the qualifying time for the relay and shaved more than six seconds off the school record set in 1988.
His final record came when he shaved nearly two full seconds off his preliminary time of 2:00.69 to break the school record in the 200-yard backstroke. He finished 11th overall in 1:58.98.

Sea of Green
Tonight is SEA of GREEN as the ice hockey team will be hosting SUNY Geneseo at 7pm. The first 250 Brockport students with ID will receive a 'Sea of Green' T-shirt courtesy of College Suites.
Brockport is 12-9-1 on the season and has gone 6-1-1 in its last eight games... Nine players have tallied more than 10 points on the season .... James Cody leads the team with 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists... Cody leads the conference with eight power play goals... Ray Tremblay ranks eighth in the SUNYAC with 17 assists and he stands fourth in power play points with 14 (3g, 11a)... Gregg Amato stands second in the conference for defensmen scoring with 18 points on three goals and 15 assists... Todd Sheridan is allowing 3.24 goals against average with a .908 save percentage... Brockport has an 85.7% penalty kill on the season.
A win tonight brings Brockport one step closer to hosting a playoff home game. Bring your Brockport pride to the rink and dont forget to wear Green and you cheer on your Golden Eagles.
