Golden Eagles 4th in SUNYAC Commissioner's Cup

The College at Brockport finished fourth in the final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Commissioner’s Cup standings for the 2009-10 academic year with an average score of 6.14 points, as announced by the conference office.

Men's Soccer finished first with 9.5 points after winning the SUNYAC title for the first time since 1978. Baseball posted nine points after finishing third in the regular season and winning the SUNYAC Championship for the second time in program history. Women's Lacrosse finished second in the conference with nine points. Men's Outdoor track posted eight points, while volleyball and men's basketball each finished with 7.5 points in the standings.

Commissioner's Cup points are awarded based on each team's finish in the SUNYAC standings, both during the regular season and in league postseason tournaments, when applicable. The first-place school in each sport receives 10 points, second place receives nine points, and so on. A school’s regular-season finish is added to its postseason finish and is divided by two to determine the points for each sport. The total points earned are then divided by the number of conference sports the school sponsors.

Brockport is Starting a Pep Band

Starting with the 2010-2011 academic/athletic year, Brockport will have its own pep band play at various athletic games! Brockport is looking for gifted musicians to motivate the Golden Eagle athletes and fans. Pep bands are a rarity in DIII sports but they can be an important part of campus culture and will add to the home field/ice/court advantage for the Golden Eagles.

The coordinators of this project are looking for any musicians who are interested in participating. If you are interested, please email Adam Standish at astandis@brockport.edu.
