Men's soccer continues shutout domination

The men's soccer team continued their shutout streak Friday afternoon at home against SUNY New Paltz, 2-0. It's the team's eighth straight shutout, a school record, and lifts the unbeaten Golden Eagles to 7-0-2 overall, 3-0 SUNYAC.
Senior goalie Joe Marino had six saves for the team, which is ranked #20 in the nation by d3soccer.com.
Brockport scored early, then preserved the shutout in the second half. Senior defender Mike Breman scored on a throw in from Aubrey Brown in the 23rd minute. The ball deflected off a New Paltz defender and hit the near-side of the goal.
Freshman Nick Stenzel scored his first collegiate goal. His first shot was saved by New Paltz goalie Thomas Viscardi, but Stenzel went after his own miss and secured the goal. Stenzel had the following to say about his first collegiate score to Brockport's Sports Information:
“It was awesome scoring that goal. It’s been a lot of fun playing this year. Just coming out, being ranked 20th in the nation, it’s a very cool feeling. We’re just trying to stay loose and put balls in the back of the net.”

The Golden Eagles will attempt their ninth straight shutout Saturday, October 2 at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field in Brockport against SUNY Oneonta.
