Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to Steve Locke and Lauren Gildemeyer on being named the Brockport Elite Eagles of the Week for the week of April 5-11.

Junior Steve Locke (Oxford, NY/Oxford) is the male athlete of the week after throwing a no-hitter in the first game to lead The College at Brockport Baseball Team to a doubleheader sweep over the SUNY Oswego Lakers. Locke led the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 win with just two walks and eleven strikeouts as he faced 29 batters in the first complete game for a Brockport pitcher this season. According to Brockport records, it is the first nine-inning no-hitter in the history of the program. He threw five consecutive strikeouts as he retired the second and third batter in the fourth inning and went 1-2-3 in the fifth. Seven of his eleven strikeouts were swinging and he added three assists and one putout. In the third inning, Locke covered first base when Nate Parrino stepped off to make a play. And in the eighth inning, Locke preserved his own no-hitter when he fielded a short bunt down the third base line.

Senior Lauren Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) is the female athlete of the week after competing at the NCAA Division I East Regional Championship.
Gildemeyer scored a 9.775 on her floor exercise routine to finish in a tie for 14th place overall.
She was the lone Division III qualifier to the East Regional and received scores of 9.85, 9.8, 9.75 and 9.7 from the four judges following her routine.
Gildemeyer is just the third gymnast from The College at Brockport to compete at the Division I Regional Championships as Sarah Bulka and Carrie Santore each earned spots in 2005.
