Important Upcoming Week

Hey Golden Eagles fanatics,

This week is one of those do or die weeks when it comes a couple of Brockport teams. For women's soccer, they are looking to capture a SUNYAC regular season title. The women are coming off a weekend where they failed to gain ground on the conference leaders. They tied Oswego on Friday and then lost to Cortland on Saturday 1-0 in the rain and mud at Brockport.

Men's soccer needs not only a good outcome this week, but a little luck as well. The last time Brockport won the SUNYAC in the regular season was 2002. To have the same outcome in 2009, Brockport would have to win both friday's and saturday's game and have Plattsburgh lose or tie on Saturday to gain the crown. You can check out the men's team in action as both games are home this week and it all starts with a 3pm start vs Fredonia on Friday!!

On to the Athletes of the week:

First for the Men:

Mike Breman
Mike Breman
Junior Mike Bremen (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) is this week’s male athlete of the week as the men’s soccer team posted two wins over Oswego and Cortland.

Breman moved up from his defensive position to score his first career goal, which proved to be the game-winner, in the 2-1 victory over SUNY Cortland.

Brockport improves to 7-4-2 overall and 5-2 in SUNYAC play, where they currently stand second in the conference standings.

For the Women:

Amanda Yachetta
Amanda Yachetta
Senior Amanda Yachetta (Falconer, NY/Falconer) led the women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 week, with wins over RIT, Skidmore and Ramapo to earn female athlete of the week honors.

The setter totaled 120 assists on the week as the Golden Eagles defeated all three teams in four sets, 3-1. She averaged 10 assists per game as Brockport has won five consecutive matches and nine of the last eleven to improve to 15-12 on the season.

**Also, congrats to head baseball coach Justin Beach for taking down Asst. Athletic Director Mark Rowland, Sports Information Director Kelly Virgin, Asst. SID Janelle Feuz, and Asst. Hockey Coach Mark Digby in Bowling Saturday night.

From what I heard at the nest, the scores were not so hot (less than 150).....just wait till the play against me!!!

I will blog more later with updates and the latest news on Brockport Athletics. Stay tuned!!!!
