The men's and women's basketball teams are currently competing in the Wendy's College Classic Tournament this week throughout the Rochester area.
On Tuesday night the women pulled off the biggest upset in the 17-year history of the women's tournament, as the Golden Eagles knocked off top-seeded Nazareth College 58-54 at Roberts Wesleyan. Senior Whitney Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored 18 points, including 11 in the second half. The Golden Eagles advance to play Roberts Wesleyan (9-6) at 6:15 pm tonight at the University of Rochester.
Last night the men lost to Roberts Wesleyan College as the Raiders scored 10 of the final 13 points of the game for the 70-63 final. Brockport will play SUNY Geneseo at 1:30 pm Friday at the University of Rochester in the consolation bracket of the tournament. Sophomore Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) led Brockport with 14 points and freshman Derek Klein (Valley Stream, NY/Long Island Lutheran) added 11 for the Golden Eagles.
