Athletes of the Week

Male Athlete of the Week
Senior Brandon Williams (Rochester, NY/Wilson) is this week’s male athlete of the week after leading the Golden Eagle’s to the ECAC Championship game.
Brockport lost to Ithaca in the Championship, 78-71, after defeating Hobart 86-59 in the semifinals. It was the eighth appearance in the ECAC tournament for the Golden Eagles, compiling a record of 9-6.
In the two games, Williams finished with 21 points, five rebounds, seven steals and nine assists. He had a career high six assists against Ithaca. He shot 50% from the floor, 67% from the arc and 71% from the line.
Brockport has participated in the ECAC’s or NCAA post-season tournament 14 of the last 15 years, including the last 11 consecutive.
The Golden Eagles finished the 2009-10 season with an overall record of 17-12.

Female Athlete of the Week
Junior Melissa Scorse (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) is this week’s female athlete of the week after qualifying for the NCAA’s in the 55-meter dash.
Scorse finished fourth in the finals at the ECAC’s with a time of 7.29, but her 7.22 finish in the preliminaries improved her NCAA provisional qualifying time from earlier this year.
Scorse will be the lone representative for Brockport at the national meet. She qualified for the same event last year and finished 11th in 7.29.



Other Noteworthy Performances:
Lauren Gildemeyer won the All-Around competition with a career high score of 38.600, which is the second-best score in school history and the highest score in a regular-season meet. She also won the floor exercise as she tied her career-high with a 9.9. Gildemeyer finished with a 9.6 on vault, 9.550 on the uneven bars and a 9.55 on the balance beam.

Adam Drypolcher scored four goals, including the game-winner at the 2:17 mark of overtime, to lead The College at Brockport Men’s Lacrosse team to an 11-10 victory over Alfred University in the season-opening game for the Golden Eagles in Alfred.
