Athletes of the Week

Senior Nate Parrino (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and junior Jamie Kaminsky (Oakdale, NY/Sayville) have been named the athletes of the week for the week of May 3-9.

Parrino is the male athlete of the week after leading the Brockport Baseball Team to the 2010 SUNYAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Parrino was named the SUNYAC tournament MVP after hitting .714 in the two games going 5-for-7 at the plate with seven runs batted in. In the win 14-9 win against nationally ranked #26 Plattsburgh, Parrino finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. The senior went 3-for-3 with five RBI and the game winning walk off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth in the 10-6 win over Oneonta. The grand slam hit gave him 59 hits on the season, tying the single season record at Brockport. He also had 10 putouts in the game, setting a new season record that currently stands at 341, the old record was 333. Brockport’s league title is its first since 2004 and its fifth overall.

Kaminsky has been named the female athlete of the week after leading the Brockport Women’s Lacrosse Team to a second place finish in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament. Kaminsky made five saves in the 20-15 win over Buffalo State in the semifinals and tied her season high of 14 saves in the 10-4 loss to SUNY Cortland in the championship. Kaminsky was named to the all-tournament team. Brockport will be making its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance with a 12-3 record after earning an at-large bid and will host Rowan University in the first round game at 4 pm Wednesday.
